Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Annual Fund?

The St. Mary’s Annual Fund is a yearly campaign to raise donations for the school. These donations support the day to day operations of the school. The Annual Fund can support every aspect of the school, including classrooms, student financial assistance, technology, performing arts, student activities, and maintenance. Funds raised may also help to provide academic extras and enriching programs that tuition dollars simply cannot cover. These are unrestricted gifts and are applied wherever the need is greatest, and they are essential to the school’s excellence and financial health.

Doesn’t tuition cover these expenses?

Tuition alone does not cover the cost of providing our students with the outstanding programs and faith-based education that St. Mary’s is committed to offering. Nearly all private schools face a gap between tuition income and expenses, and St. Mary’s is no exception.

Why is my participation important?

St. Mary’s Academy is an important mission of St. Peter Parish and our community. The Annual Fund is an opportunity for all those within our St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s communities to invest in Catholic education and in our youth. Even if you are not a parent of a St. Mary’s student, your support still benefits our community by promoting Catholic education and values. There is no more direct way to support that ideal than to give to the Annual Fund.

I heard about the upcoming Capital Campaign. What is the difference between the Annual Fund and the Capital Campaign?

The Annual Fund is whatever money we raise during the funding drive, which in most years goes toward our operating costs for running the school. A Capital Campaign aims to raise funds for long term needs. You’ll hear more about our Capital Campaign in 2022, which is necessary now because St. Mary’s is ready to make the leap to its next improvement. The Capital Campaign will be raising money to complete the purchase of the Convent, which will be renovated into our new middle school, and for other capital improvement projects.  Gifts made to the Capital Campaign are separate from gifts made to the Annual Fund.

I want to contribute financially to the Annual Fund, but don’t know how much to give.

Each gift to the Annual Fund – large or small – makes a difference. Every gift matters, and your investment allows us to continue to foster in our students strong values and a life of faith and servant leadership, all in a challenging and supportive academic environment. We hope you will choose to make this a priority at one of the following giving levels.

Leadership Giving Levels

◯  Friends Circle: $1 – $199

◯  Principal’s Circle: $200 – $499

◯  St. Peter’s Circle: $500 – $999

◯  Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary Circle: $1,000 – $1,863

◯  1864 Legacy Circle:  $1,864 and over

My employer has a matching gift program. Can I use this with my financial gift to the Annual Fund?

Check with your employer, but yes. Please take the time to find out whether your employer has a matching gift program which may serve to double your donation to St. Mary’s. We would be happy to provide you with whatever documentation you may need in order to help with this. St. Mary’s is a 501c3 non-profit and can receive matching gifts.

How can I make an Annual Fund gift?

You may make a quick, easy and secure gift using your credit card by going to the school website or Facebook page and clicking on the link. Or, you can fill out the Annual Fund donation card and give by mail with a check or credit card.
